Hi Ray,

Questions for you:

1) are you also using some sort of remote connection method (TeamViewer/Remote Desktop) to operate the computer? That seems to be a common theme in the reports above. If so, what tool are you using.

2) Do you have a ultra high resolution display or monitor? Again seems to be a common theme.

Also a test to try

Install the very latest SharpCap 3.2 beta (3.2.5708 or later) and run SharpCap from a command prompt adding the '/SoftwareRendering' option - ie.

Code: Select all

"c:\Program Files (x86)\SharpCap 3.2\Sharpcap.exe" /SoftwareRendering
That will force the display of the problem parts of the UI to be handled by software rather than your graphics card and may help.

Sharpcap 3.1 has been working fine until a few hours ago on both my laptop and tested on pc. Windows update? The beta version and

has fixed the issue for now. Thank you! If I can provide more information, let me know.

Hi,

thanks for letting us know the software rendering trick fixes the problem :)

Can I ask if you are using remote connection software to access the PC (Remote Desktop, Teamviewer, etc), or are you just using the PC normally with keyboard, mouse and monitor?

No remote access for me. I'm going old school.

PC:
Win10 Pro version 1803 os build 17134.228

Tablet/Laptop:
Win10 Home version 1803 build 17134.228

both are Intel i5 cpu using onboard intel graphic chips

Ok, no worries. One thing to check is that the display drivers haven't been dropped down to the 'Basic Display Adaptor' instead of using the correct hardware adaptor for your device - instructions on checking this can be found here

Display drivers on both appear normal.

I did just notice under device management ->monitors I have "Generic PnP monitor".

Any help?

Hi,

no, the monitor being Generic PnP should be fine - it's the graphics card drivers being wrong that can cause problems like this.

The new beta version seems to have fixed all the display problems on high res monitors like the Surface Pro and Surface Book! Great news, I'm stoked! I'll be testing everything as soon as I can get my rig set up this weekend, but so far it looks very promising. Great work. Still the best value astro software there is. You should bump the price, everyone I know uses it, and I've converted quite a few people from the dark side who seem to think a polemaster is god's gift to PA. I'll give you an update on the Beta version after the weekend.

Hi Bob,

it would be good to know exactly which version works nicely for you and which previous beta version you upgraded from that had problems - that would help me keep track of exactly what changes fixed things for you.
