problem of disconnection of the guidance camera when using sharpcap

Post by aziz5200 »

Good evening,
I'm having a bug on my new pc. in fact, when i connect the asi 071 mc pro on sharpcap whatever the version, my asi 178 mc disconnects instantaneously PHD guiding 2 whatever the version!
I tried with APT and it works great but with sharpcap it does not work while with my old PC everything worked well.
i do not know what i missed but as soon as i connect the 178mc on the asi 071 pro the problem comes back so that if i connect the 178 mc directly on the PC it works!
basically, everything works fine on my old PC whatever the configuration while on my new PC, the combination sharpcap and phd guiding 2 only works if the 178 mc is directly linked to the pc and not in HUB mode through the 071 pro !
Here is the log:

Hi,

are you using a USB hub or two separate USB cables from the camera direct back to ports on the computer? It sounds like a USB bandwidth issue which are much more common with hubs involved - basically when SharpCap starts up it begins running the 071 and that uses enough of the bandwidth that the connection to the other camera drops. As well as removing any USB hubs you could try

* Turning down the turbo USB setting in SharpCap to minimum
* using a USB2 cable for the 071 camera if you are only using it for longer exposure work

both should reduce the bandwidth used by the 071 and may help.

cheers,

Robin
