Thanks for a great program!
I am having difficulty installing versions after 3.0.3994 Windows 10 Pro - 1709 - 16299.309.
Versions before this install without issue - I've tried admin elevated installs, Google'ing PackageCache issues, errors 0x80070002 and 0x8007005, and pretty much everything else I can think of.
This is a log file from an attempted install of a 3.1 version. Stab in the dark: could this be related to missing or corrupt microsoft C redistributables?
Anyway - thanks for taking a look. If nothing is obvious, I may be time for a clean Windows install.

Hi,
it looks like you already have at least a partial install of 3.1.5038 as I see this line in the setup log
however the installer then determines that it wants to repair something and looking a bit further I find
So, perhaps the .NET framework 4.52 needs a repair that is failing as part of the SharpCap install. I would be tempted to download the standalone installer for .NET 4.52 and try running that to see if you can get a repair of it to run through, then try SharpCap again.

Turns out the problem still remains.
I've tried the stand-alone 4.5.2 offline installer. Since I have Visual Studio 2017 and develop for 4.7.1, the offline installer exits saying that 4.5.2 or later is installed. I've tried to force it but can not easily.
This whole problem was caused by ... me. In an uninstall of other tools and an attempt to optimize the SharpCap PC for ONLY photographic work, I screwed up something - not exactly sure what. I really hope INDI Astro makes it... "You've got mail!" Apparently even Apple is making it harder to actually use a computer for things other than social media.
Anyway, thanks again. I've provided a new log file after following your instructions. I'll wait a day and probably do a clean install of windows unless something is obvious too you.

Well at least it is not trying to repair .NET 452 now, which is a step forward maybe, but still the same error at the end.
Error 0x8007005 is 'access denied', so I'd try the following
1) run the installer as administrator - it's supposed to elevate itself but now and then there are problems with this and maybe admin will help.
2) run 'procmon' from sysinternals while installing and see what the access denied errors relate to - you should be able to see the 'run' key and other things getting denied in registry access logs

Hi -
I attempted your most recent suggestions - no luck - and decided to go with a clean install of Windows *twice*.
Turns out I still can't install SharpCap 3.1.5092.0.
After the first clean windows install, I WAS able to install 3.1.5092.0. I installed SharpCap before I installed the ASCOM 6.3 platform. At this point, I ran windows update again to get the latest windows 10 cumulative update - the update failed. Problems related to .Net (possibly) with error 0x800f081f.)
After the second full clean Install of Windows, I updated the OS with all available updates and then upgraded to Windows 10 Pro - 1709 16299.309.
At this point I installed ASCOM 6.3. It complained it didn't have .Net 3.5 (along with the 32 and 64 bit versions of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Runtime redistributables).
So I then invoked "Turn Windows features on and off" in Control Panel. The .Net Framework 3.5 option was un-checked; so I checked it. The 3.5 Framework feature was then downloaded from the internet and successfully installed. Reboot.
Now ASCOM 6.3 said it was just missing the redistributables which were installed by the ASCOM 6.3 executable. ASCOM installed without error. So did the Celestron ASCOM driver.
At this point, I tried to install SharpCap. The install fails. Here is the log (slightly different then the two before):

After the second full clean Install of Windows, I updated the OS with all available updates and then upgraded to Windows 10 Pro - 1709 16299.309.
At this point I installed ASCOM 6.3. It complained it didn't have .Net 3.5 (along with the 32 and 64 bit versions of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Runtime redistributables).
So I then invoked "Turn Windows features on and off" in Control Panel. The .Net Framework 3.5 option was un-checked; so I checked it. The 3.5 Framework feature was then downloaded from the internet and successfully installed. Reboot.
Now ASCOM 6.3 said it was just missing the redistributables which were installed by the ASCOM 6.3 executable. ASCOM installed without error. So did the Celestron ASCOM driver.
At this point, I tried to install SharpCap. The install fails. Here is the log (slightly different then the two before):

I'm going to try a third clean Windows install, completely update windows, install SharpCap and then install ASCOM after SharpCap - I'll let you know what happens.

I'll try doing that again. I had previously restored these files / directories from backup as well. (see third or so sentence in my first post - I spent nearly a day on this before trying the clean installs.).
