Hi Robin,
More anti-virus problems courtesy of Windows Smart Screen and Norton, at least on an older laptop running 1709 16299.125 (the same as the desktop I normally use with SC). Both can be overridden. Here is what happened
Tried to download 3.0.4055.0 and Win 10 Smart Screen blocks 3.0.4055.0 The dialog raised reads SharpCap Install 3.0.4055.0 is unsafe and was blocked by...Smart Screen. The user then gets choices including report as safe and download anyway. Smart Screen seems to be active even though Norton disables Defender.
When the second download completes Norton removes it apparently because almost no Norton users have downloaded it. The Norton dialog saved to clipboard reads--
Filename: sharpcapinstall-3.0.4055.0.exe

Re: Win10 Smart Scrren/Norton Block 3.0.4055.0
Thanks for the info - the Norton one is just a 'this file hasn't been downloaded much by our users so we don't know what to make of it'. The SmartScreen is a PITA. The only silver lining is that Windows defender is not moaning if you do the download and install. Maybe they're saving that one for tomorrow
I will put up yet another build - I'd really hoped to get to the end of this issue, but apparently not
It would be very helpful if those who see this message from smartscreen could go to the download lists in Microsoft Edge, right click on the failed download and choose 'Report that this download is safe'. Hopefully a few of those will help make this happen less and that would make writing SharpCap a whole lot easier!
cheers,
Robin
