Folder Monitor Camera
The feature is great, beautiful, but I can't get it to work
He doesn't read the FIT 32 to me, the FIT 16 yes, but not always
I just can't understand how this is supposed to work.
The guide is quite "narrow" and does not offer many explanations
I have created a small demonstration video
Note that the FIT in the video is not created by SharpCap
Note that with "some" FIT 16 files created by SharpCap it worked but I didn't understand how I did it
Youtube video only for your eyes

Re: Folder Monitor Camera question
Hi Carlo,
could you share one or two of the problem FITS files with me via dropbox/google drive/etc?
32 bit fits are not supported for reading, but 16 bit should read OK. However there are many ways to store essentially the same information in a FITS file, so perhaps these ones are structured in a way that SharpCap doesn't like.
To experiment with the feature you should find reading PNG files is much less likely to have problems.

Re: Folder Monitor Camera question
Thanks for the reply
Last night I did some livestacking shots
The generated 16-bit FIT files are compatible with the Folder Monitor function; the FIT 32 bit no.
The previous FITs that didn't work were generated by the MaximDL Lite edition program supplied with the Orion SG3 camera, but they don't matter, because I care about your FITs
Thanks to livestacking I am able to do some formidable shots from Rome, with subframes of 10 / 15s in the stack at 5 minutes.
I was looking for a quick and easy way to add up the sums and Folder Monitor is a good solution; the result is comparable to the stack made with MaximDL 6
The functionality of Folder Monitor, however, is a bit precarious; sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes he uploads all the photos and sometimes he doesn't ..... it's not clear.
It gives me the impression that it is a function developed "on the fly" but never really completed.

Re: Folder Monitor Camera question
Hi,
thanks for the feedback - there are certainly some rough edges to that function. If you do come across uses that break every time with good data then please post the info and I will do my best to fix the problem.
thanks,
Robin

Re: Folder Monitor Camera question
I have prepared a video tutorial for some Italian friends
I don't know if it can be useful.
During use, the problem of partial file reading is clearly visible.
At the end by having all the images read and rewinding, it sums the same image over and over again, but it works.
It works well because the final result is very good, perfectly comparable to the MaximDL 6 stacking; really similar.
Really congratulations

Hi Carlo,
thanks for sharing - I will put that on my list of bugs to investigate.
