Crash on startup, but not after install

Hi,
New here.
I have a qhy294c and followed their instructions.
Odd that the program launches after installation, but after closing it will crash every time. Tried many things but this happens reliably.
Deinstall, reinstall, last screen asks if I want to launch, I do but it won't launch again.
I'm puzzled.

do you see any sort of error message when it crashes? If you do can you post a screenshot of it or at the very least the text of the error message.

It gives the error "Sharpcap has stopped working".
Then, "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"
It's the 3.2 64 bit version although it does the same for other versions I've tried.

Funny thing is, every time I install a version, it gives the "Launch" option at the end of the install and I do so. The program starts off just fine. I can't close and reopen it though. All the drivers are there since I have gotten images and controlled the camera with it.

Hi,

One thing you could try is to try to get SharpCap to create a crash dump - see the instructions at the bottom of this part of the documentation https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/3.2/29_BugsCrashes.htm (although the path to sharpcap.exe is wrong in the documentation).

Out of interest, what happens if you try the 32 bit version?

I'm running Win7 on a fast HP laptop. Maybe I should do a Win10 upgrade.

what antivirus are you using and does it make any difference if you turn it off temporarily?

We've discovered a good rule of thumb that when bugs don't make any sense at all there is a good chance that they are caused by antivirus software!

did the idea of creating a dump file by running SharpCap with the /dump option on the command line not get anywhere? Normally if you can send one of those files to me it would give me enough information to provide some useful advice.

Tried but had no luck with it. If it made a dump file I can't find it. My research said I might have to screw around with the registry.

Is QHY's information correct on their site? It says they tweaked drivers for the camera and now I'm not sure if I have correct ones.

The following is from qhy294c online manual.

Note that for the latest version of SharpCap, QHY294C also needs the latest qhyccd.dll, for which QHYCCD has written the SharpCap patch, please download and install it.

How do I know I have the right one?
