Bayer matrix issue on saved images

#1

Post by donboy »

Robin,

During the recent Solar eclipse I was using a ASI071 with the image flipped vertically and maybe both horizontal and vertical and my saved png images had no color and a grid pattern was on the surface of the Sun when viewed in Windows 10 while viewing the the same images on a Mac the color was missing and there was no grid pattern.. SC v. 3.0.4002.0.

Hi Don,

this is expected when you capture in RAW mode - all saved files are RAW and will show the Bayer pattern unless you load them into software that understands the need to debayer the RAW images. PIPP is a good choice for processing RAW images into colour either singly or in bulk.

cheers,

Robin

Hi Don,

yep, even when capturing as PNG - the point of RAW is to save the data that comes off the camera sensor without any processing to allow you to do the best processing possible at a later point.

cheers,

Robin
