Hi,

from what I can see from the log (thanks for posting it), SharpCap is asking the SVBony code for a list of cameras and it never gets an answer :

Code: Select all

I'd be tempted to try to see if this might be related to poor USB communication between the device and the laptop - try changing cables/ports or using shorter cables. Sometimes you can get situations where the USB works well enough for the device to show up in device manager (or even in SharpCap) but the heavier load of actually trying to use the device causes it to fall over. See the link to the post on troubleshooting USB issues at the top of the page.

If that doesn't help, please turn on additional logging (bottom of the first page of settings - https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/3.2/#General%20Tab) and then try opening the camera - that should produce a more comprehensive log that would help me understand whether it is asking for the number of cameras that is freezing up or asking for the details about the camera - either way we would then need to see if SVBony can fix the issue.

Problem: sharpcap opening svbony sv305 camera will lock up my laptop computer

SharpCap v3.2.6411
SVBONY_Driver_DS_V1.3.2_2020-03-04 (Detects Camera with this New Driver) from https://www.svbony.com/blog/solutions
Windows 10 v2004 build 19041.450
Windows Device Manager:
Imaging Device: SVBONY USB Camera
(CKCameraDevice) v1.0.0.7 3/4/2020
Port_#0003.Hub_#0001

Laptop Asus GL703VD-WB71 with Intel 630 and Nvidia GTX1050 graphic chipset

Open SharpCap 3.2
When I Select and Open SVBONY SV305
Opening Camera - SVBONY SV305
Windows Error Box Displays:
SharpCap has stopped responding.
It looks like SharpCap has stopped responding to keyboard and mouse.
Wait
Close SharpCap
Report this problem

I select: (Report this problem) and that crashes too!
I have to Restart computer to get out of SharpCap. (Task Manager End Task does Not Work)

I also connected and tested this SVBONY SV305 camera on my Windows 10 Desktop computer.
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5 motherboard with AMD FX-8350 CPU 8GB DDR3 memory.
SharpCap 3.2 and SVBONY SV305 camera is detected and opens properly on the desktop computer.
So camera is working but does Not Run on my Asus laptop computer.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank You

Okay, I had to manually generate a Bug report zip file to send to you.
SharpCap 3.2 will not send you the Bug report locked up.

Hi,

thanks for the report – I actually have a new update from SVBony that came in a few days ago. It hasn't made it into a released version of SharpCap yet, but I'm hoping to get the new version with that update in available over the weekend. I think it would be worth trying that when it's available to see if it resolves the issue.

Cheers, Robin

I did download SharpCapInstall-3.2.6421.0.exe yesterday but my Asus laptop still locks opening SV305 camera.

Sybony Directshow Driver (SVBONY_Driver_DS_V1.3.2_2020-03-04.exe) did let SharpCap 3.2 display my Svbony SV305 camera.

I am going to install a fresh copy of Windows 10 Home v2004 (latest release) on another new Samsung EVO Plus SSD 500GB M.2 NVMe
without any extras other than drivers and programs needed to run SharpCap 3.2 (32bit version).
Hopefully this will run without Locking-Up.

SharpCap NOW Works with a clean copy of Windows 10 installed !!!

I just installed a clean copy of Windows 10 v1909 build 18363.418 to my formatted
SSD on my ASUS GL703 laptop computer.
Other than New Microsoft Edge and ABP (Adblocker Plus App to The Edge)
SVBONY_Driver_DS_V1.3.2_2020-03-04.exe (for the SYBONY SV305 camera)
SharpCapInstall-3.2.6411.0(32bit).exe (Camera Software)

I haven't installed AVG or any other programs so it's one step at a time reinstalling all my programs
until something Locks this Program Up.
Now to let Windows update all it's patches.

Thanks for trying to figure what was causing my problem.

Hi,

good to hear that you are making progress and have the camera working. If something does cause problems as you reinstall your software then please post back here so that we can investigate further and that other users can be aware of that information.

Cheers, Robin
