Hello,

Using WIn 10 Pro, SharpCap 3.2.6248.0, Starlight Xpress SXVF-M25C (one shot colour)

Seems that the camera is not recognized as colour : the colour space proposed in MONO16 and MONO8.

Hi,

SX colour cameras are supposed to have model numbers bigger than 128, but it looks your camera has snuck in with the model number below that value which means that SharpCap thinks it's a monochrome camera.

I'm not sure that there's any way that I can reliably determine that the camera is colour, but I can tweak SharpCap so that it will always show the option to manually apply debayering in the controls – that would allow you to pick the right Bayer pattern and would also ensure that saved files were encoded correctly.

Hi,

Strange.
Like all SX cameras, my M25C is identified with a PID.
It should be 325, according to SX.
And it is indeed the case, as I can see whren using the basic SX software as test.

Hi Pierre,

The PID number you are referring to is the USB PID, which is distinct from the cameras model number which can be retrieved by the SDK that SX provide. I guess the simplest thing for me to do would be to add exceptions to the bigger than 128 rule for your model of camera.

From what I can see in the SDK, the M25C is known as (hex) 0x59 (which matches dec 89).
Note that there are several other models that are colour but have a model number <128 : M26C, SuperstarC...
The M26C is still available. The other are probably retired products.

Hi,

Very odd. The only thing I can suggest now is that you turn on additional logging (bottom of the first page of the options) then open the camera and test again. Share the log that is created with me and also a single frame saved in fits format. If we are lucky there might be some information that helps work out the problem is somewhere between those two files. Unfortunately I don't have a colour SX camera of any sort to test with.
