Freezing after two preview frames with ASCOM Lumenera

I picked up a Lumenera Lt16059HM and am trying to use it with SharpCap, it seems to detect it without ASCOM but I cant use that because I need to change it to single tap and slow clock speed. Howard Dutton wrote a ASCOM drive for it which does these things. The driver works with every other piece of software I have tried, Nebulosity, PHD Guiding, APT. But when I connect to the camera in SharpCap it takes two preview frames and then thats it. No changing of exposure or anything works.

Except binning. I change it to 2x2 binning and it starts working perfectly. Change it back to 1x1 and it stops. I cant take a snapshot either.

Running on Win 10 32bit with the latest LuCam and ASCOM and latest version of SharpCap downloaded today (3.2)

Hi,

So, the reason that changing the binning kicks the camera back into life is that anything that changes the resolution forces the camera capture loop to get reset and restarted. I'm assuming that somehow in 1x1 mode the capturing of frames is getting stuck and the binning change (and potentially a change to the capture area too) is breaking out of that.

Unfortunately from the log you have posted I can't work out what's going on when the camera is getting stuck. In order to look into that level of detail then you will need to retest and turn on the option for additional logging (bottom of the first page of the settings) before opening the camera. This will put a lot of additional information to the log including full details of communication between SharpCap and the Ascom driver.

Hi,

Whoops, sorry to have missed this response. From the log it looks as though the first two frames run correctly and then after the third frame the camera never notified SharpCap that the frame becomes ready – basically SharpCap starts the exposure and then continually asks the camera if the frame is ready yet – for the first two frames that works okay, for the third frame the camera driver just keeps reporting that the frame isn't ready yet.

What I do notice is that towards the end of the log where you are shutting down, the camera reports being in an error state. I suspect that this error state started sometime during the third exposure which would explain why the exposure never completes. Unfortunately there is no information about why the error state occurs. It may be worth looking at the settings of your Ascom driver to see if there's a way to make that output its own log file which might contain some info that explains why the error is occurring.
