Capture sequence duplicates frames

#1

Post by beddu »

Hi everybody!

Last evening i was testing my ASI120MM-S with SharpCap 3.0 on Windows 8.0 (yes...still...).
Everything apparently works fine, but something strange happened when I tried to take a sequence of five 60" exposed images.
The first image is captured, then immediately the second one is also saved without waiting that the new frame is really captured, then the third one is really captured and so on.
The result is: I have 5 images, but image 1 and 2 are identical, 3 and 4 are identical.

I didnt know which log to attach because I closed and re-opened SharpCap several times, so I picked all the ones from last evening and put them in a zip file.

Probably-it-doesn't-matter PS: The camera is USB3.0, but it was connected on a USB2.0 port. I have a USB3.0 port on my laptop, I just did not use it.

Enjoy!

Hi,

it looks like a bug with capturing a sequence of single frames interacting with a feature that allows the previously captured frame to be saved if you are trying to take a single frame and no camera settings have changed.

I'd suggest the following work around

* Set your output format manually to the desired file type
* Choose to capture a 'Number of Frames' in the start capture dialog instead of 'Single Frame' - ie 10
* Untick perform a sequence of captures

You will still capture 10 frames in a row to FITS or PNG or whatever format you pick, but will sidestep the issue.

If this is still a problem in 3.2 then I will be fixing it threre.

cheers,

Robin
