[Resolved] Unable to capture zoomed images

I am using the Revolution Imager R2 camera with Sharp Cap Version 3.2.5678 on a 32 bit Windows 7 operating system computer. I zoomed Saturn to 400% but when I captured frames, the image size created as a .SER or .AVI file was not at the zoomed resolution. I tried using the histogram mode (per other comments by other forum members) but the image was greatly reduced. I was also unable to use Live Stack because there were no stars available to align. Please let me know if this is a bug or if there are other requirements to be able to use Live Stack with planets. Finally, the .SER or.AVI file created by Sharp Cap Version 3.2.5678 (because the captured image size is small) will not create zoomed images using other software (for example PIPP) for stacking in other software (like RegiStax). Please advise if anyone has run into the same issues and whether this is a bug with version 3.2.5678. Thank you!

The zooming is a software facility which can help with focusing - no bug. The size of the captured image is dependent on the optics of the telescope.

In order to increase the size of the image, use a Barlow, which depending on the model will give 2X - 5X magnification.

When capturing planets it is usual to:
  • Capture a video in SER format using the highest frame rate possible
  • Process the video using Autostakkert to analyse and stack the best frames
  • Use Registax to process the Autostakkert output
  • Final enhancement in Photoshop or GIMP
Live stack is not usually used for lunar/planetary capture as the time taken to stack would dramatically reduce the frame rate. Use Live Stack for longer exposure deep sky objects.

Have a look at my document here http://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/howtos/jupiter/#.
