Robin,
just been using the pixel value readout to check that I'm not burning out the core of M51, and whilst it's a welcome addition, I find Nebulosity4's version more useful, and easier... don't know if you've seen it, but Craig offers stats (mean, min, max, & SD) for a 21x21 pixel box around the actual cursor position as well as the RBG values at the cursor. I find this approach very useful for inspecting the cores of galaxies, bright nebulae etc., since the use of a small sampling box gives a more accurate idea of the true depth, and more importantly, when you're on the edge, you can clearly see the variation in the SD...
Don't know if it'd be easy to offer this facility in SC?

Re: Suggestion for pixel value readout
Hi,
actually you can already get a lot of that info from the histogram function in SharpCap, since you can enable the selection area with the histogram and draw your own box. The mean and SD show in the histogram area and you can read the min/max off of the graph (they could be added too). Does that approach work for you?
cheers,
Robin
