Problem with an USB Grabber

#1

Post by procyon12 »

Hi Robin,

I found a problem with SC 4.0.7596.0 (SC Pro 32bit, W10 20H2 64bit, AMD Ryzen 3 3200U, 8GB) using an USB grabber "Hauppauge Cx23100 Video Capture", connected to a WATEC 902H2 video camera.

The grabber is properly installed and runs without problems with several software like VDub, Syntec Video View and also SC 3.2.6482.0.

With SC 4.0.7596.0, I see already in the preview's bottom line dropped frames of about 60% of frames counted. Recorded AVI/SER files show a lot of dropped frames (not so with SC SC 3.2.6482.0).

I attach log files and camera settings from 10s-avi-captures with 3.2 and 4.0. Please let me know if you need more information.

(A test under W7-64 shows the same issue.)

Cheers, Christian

Hi,

thanks for the report - I can also see the effect with webcams now I know to look. Initially I thought it was some sort of complex inter-thread timing issue, but it turns out that I had removed some old code (and not done it quite properly) - that meant that each frame from the camera was being processed twice, but SharpCap was then dropping the second copy most of the time.

I have a fix now :)
