Hi Steve,

When you are live stacking a weak stretch is automatically applied to the image levels to brighten the faint detail which is usually what you are looking for. This most likely accounts for the differences you are noticing between SharpCap when using live stacking and other software. There is also the option to adjust the strength of this stretch in the live stacking histogram panel and a separate image stretch in the mini histogram on the right-hand side which you may have adjusted at some point in the past.

Cheers, Robin

Hi robin
Had a clear night this evening.
Ran some quick tests of image capture at same parameters at same sky location.
Image parameters settings:
1x1 bin 10 sec at gain 3800 offset 9
used SNAPSHOT function in Sharpcap.

Results are what I described.
For the same settings,
Sharpcap Native interface mode snapshot images seems to overexpose.
I tried this in sharpcap 5969 native, and sharpcap 5949 native

Sharpcap 5949 ASCOM interface snapshot gave "normal" exposure images,
comparable to images taken with APT 3.63(Ascom interface )
and EZcap_qt 0.1.51.8 native interface

Are there other settings in Sharpcap Native mode that would be set different than in the ASCOM mode?
Thanks
steve

Hi Robin
Wanted to let you see the image differences I am seeing using the different QHY capture interface /programs.
Each image capture was with the same parameters at same sky location within a few minutes of each other.
Image parameters settings:
1x1 bin, 10 sec exp, at gain 3800 offset 9

ALL images were converted from FITS to TIF , field flattened in Photoshop, reduced in image size to about 2K, then saved in JPG format so they would be small enough to send.

Also, here is my captured image from APT.
Processed the same way as the Sharpcap images

The title of your images indicates v5949. Current latest build for download is 3.2.5973.

Robin
Are there any new improvements in 5973 over the 5969 you had me checking out?
I won’t be able to do any other testing on my qhy247c until later this week .
Take care

Hi,

It would help if you could post the capture settings files that record the settings you are using to capture your images and the unprocessed fits files from both SharpCap and the other applications so that I can compare pixel values, settings et cetera. Those files will probably be too big to upload to the forums so the best bet is usually to upload to somewhere like Google Drive or dropbox and share a link.

The very latest version has a tidier fix to the qhy resolution issue and some other improvements around sensor analysis.

Cheers, Robin

Hi Robin
Sorry for the delayed response , i was across the country visiting the daughter.
I will get the various fits images and their settings files posted on my google drive and let you know how to access them.
Thanks for your help on this.

Hi Robin
I have placed my QHY247C images and info files on a google share drive.
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing

I also have a "qhy test.txt" file explaining the capture setup, programs used and how they appear to me.images.
Please let me know if you have a issue with the google drive. This is my first time using this.
Thank you for looking at these for me.
Take care

Thanks for taking the time to upload the data. Unfortunately I have no Internet connection at home at the moment , so I will be unable to look at it until that gets fixed. I'm currently reduced to answering forum posts using my phone :-(
