Problems with 64 bit beta
Re: Problems with 64 bit beta
Robin
Per the QHY forum page I loaded and ran SharpCapInstall-3.2.5949.0-64bit.exe
This was able to connect to my QHY247C camera without a problem.
See image and log. I did try loading your newest version sharpcap ( SharpCapInstall-3.2.5967.0-64bit) and placed the DLL from 5949 in the run directory of
5967 , but I still got the same error as before.
So I 'll wait and see what QHY support says about the issue with the newer Sharpcap/SDK.
Take care
Steve

Re: Problems with 64 bit beta
Hi Steve,
I've been in contact with qhy about this problem and they are going to look into it at the beginning of next week – hopefully will be easy for them to fix and then I include a new fixed SDK in SharpCap.
Cheers, Robin

Re: Problems with 64 bit beta
Hi,
I've had some feedback from QHY now who have indicated that possibly calling some of the SDK functions in the wrong order. I've attempted to fix this problem and there is a new build which be very grateful if you could test – you can download it here: https://d.sharpcap.co.uk/download.html? ... 3.2.5968.0
Please let me know if this fixes the problem. If you still have a problem please be sure to capture the log text and post it so that I can see if I can learn anything new from this test version.
Cheers, Robin

Re: Problems with 64 bit beta
Hi Robin
Glad to help out on this.
As I mentioned , I am a brand new user of sharpcap.
So still doing a lot of experimenting and learning on features and functions.
So
Last night I was running with your 5969 sw.
Experimenting with your liveview and "Livestack" . working my way through all the setup parameters.
First thing I noticed, the captured images seem to be a lot more "overexposed" for a given Gain setting then what I get with either APT or EZCAP software.
for instance I normally have my gain set around 4000 in APT and EZCAP in order to get good dynamic range in my capture images at 34-55 seconds for general sky regions.
with your program I have to set my gain back to 1500 and my exposure time not over 15 secs to get reasonably exposed images. Any higher gain or longer exposures result in washed out images.
with your program I found a setting of 8 sec at 1500 gain for normal star cluster pictures.
These settings in EZCAP and APT would barely show any stars.
I will be gone for a week but when I get back I will experiment some more with your program to give you some examples of what I am seeing. It just seems strange there is such a large difference in the settings to get "good" images.
Again, I am still learning your program so I will work on this when I get back.
Also, last night the program did crash after about 1 hour, but I was not able to capture the message, and can't seem to find any log file with this crash info.
Thanks for working the camera interface issue.
Take care
