I suggest to add a grid (both horizontal and vertical) which may be useful for a number of quantitative analyses (e.g. when a flat is made using a calibrated light source). Alternatively, add a moveable cursor which reads the values of the plotted functions.

Just to make sure I understand correctly - you are thinking about a background grid on the histogram and perhaps some way to read the histogram value off (maybe a tooltip or something).
