Hi Steve,
this would work as long as you set the simulator mount to within 15 degrees of the real position before plate solving - that's because SharpCap passes a maximum radius of 15 degrees for the search area when plate solving from the mount 'GPS' button. The new code I wrote the other day does an unrestricted plate solve across the whole sky, so takes longer but doesn't need that sort of trickery.
