Atik Infinity Color - not recognized

#1

Post by sillybob86 »

So, wasnt sure if i should start a new topic or drop in on the other one, but..

I have an atik infinity color.

IN order:

1) I installed most recent drivers and stuff from atik website.
2) I installed most up to date version of sharpcap from sharpcap website.
3) I downloaded and installed Ascom 6.3 (the newest one i believe)
4) I then ran Atik installation program again and installed the "ASCOM drivers" (they are also up to date).

Ive tried on multiple computers now, different cables, etc...

Infinity software recognizes/works.
Sharp cap doesn't recognize or detect any camera (other than my web-camera)

Do I need to point sharpcap to a specific file, somehow? If so- how? or ideas in general?

Thanks
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

do other devices show up in the ASCOM section of the SharpCap menu? I think the ASCOM platform installs a 'Camera V2 Simulator' by default - if that is showing up then SharpCap is talking to ASCOM OK.

Can you also post the SharpCap log - maybe something in there.

cheers,

Robin

So I dont see "Camera V2 Simulator" listed in there (i definitely could of missed it)

As to other devices show up in ascom section- where is that section? you mean under cameras? I used to have a cheap little bore scope(usb) that would plug and play (meaning sharpcap would auto detect it). Havent really touched telescope stuff in a year or two, but in testing last night I do know that my camera and the OEM software for it do work

Hi,

looks like ASCOM is somehow mis-configured or corrupted on your system - there are errors in the log for trying to list ASCOM cameras

Code: Select all

Exception of type ProfilePersistenceException from Getting ASCOM cameras : RegistryAccess.New - Unexpected exception
Stack Trace: at ASCOM.Utilities.RegistryAccess.NewCode(Boolean p_IgnoreChecks) in C:\ASCOM Build\Export\ASCOM.Utilities\ASCOM.Utilities\RegistryAccess.vb:line 146
   at ASCOM.Utilities.RegistryAccess..ctor(String p_CallingComponent) in C:\ASCOM Build\Export\ASCOM.Utilities\ASCOM.Utilities\RegistryAccess.vb:line 105
   at ASCOM.Utilities.Profile..ctor() in C:\ASCOM Build\Export\ASCOM.Utilities\ASCOM.Utilities\Profile.vb:line 53
Similar ones for trying to list ASCOM wheels, focusers and mounts.

This forum post for SGP has exactly the same problem - http://forum.mainsequencesoftware.com/t ... oblem/5143 - the user solved it by completely uninstalling and then re-installing ASCOM 6.3.

cheers,

Robin

So I uninstalled and reinstalled everything, ground up just to be sure.

Ascom
Sharpcap
Atik

I noticed when installing Ascom (and I didn't pay attention to this the first time) that there was a "migration error" or something and a "cant access /documents/ ___ This was an access error it looks like. SO, in terms of getting Sharp-cap to notice /connect to infinity

change permissions, I went through regedit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE then SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node Im not sure what all needed to be changed, but essentially what I assume were "local" accounts, users/admin/etc all are given full control.

This allowed sharp-cap to finally connect. However, on one computer now (fixing on both, just in case I run into the problem later on the other) when I attempt to connect, I get an error ; Image

https://imgur.com/a/kyfPS in case link doesnt work

So it looks like its half way there

Ok, definitely a step forward in that SharpCap is now able to get a list of the ASCOM cameras and try to launch the canera, but something in the camera driver is failing to start correctly.

Did you press the 'report this error' button? If you do and you are online then it will upload a bug report containing the log and other useful info which I can then look at. Another alternative is to post the new log.

Also at this point a good idea is to try using some other software that can talk to the Atik ASCOM driver - for instance 'APT Astrophotography Tool' - if that gives similar errors then we know that the ASCOM driver is playing up for both programs and is probably at fault. If the other software talks the the camera correctly then the blame lies at SharpCap's door!

cheers,

SO, computer 2

I downloaded a trial of APT, and appear to have connections problems there.. so that is likely a ASCOM issue.

I did submit the error, in case there is something useful there for you.

If you would like me to try other things(even though this appears to be an Ascom issue now), Im more than willing to be a guinea pig. But in terms of the main reason I made this post, the issue seems to be solved. I do appreciate your prompt help :) Ive had some questions go unanswered for weeks on other forums lol.
