Folks
I have a Celestron 6SE with the .63 focal reducer. I am presently using a Zwo 224 colour camera for EAA. As you know the FOV is very small which makes it difficult to locate things and to find enough stars to livestack. SOOOOO I am looking at a new camera either the ZWO 294 uncooled or the 533.
I prefer the 294 for the larger FOV along with the shorter uncooled version. The 533 has no amp glow.
Any other opinions on either camera???? Again it is a 6 inch SC and I am only interested in EAA.
Thanks in advance Mark
ZWO 294 or 533 ???
Re: ZWO 294 or 533 ???
If your only using it for EAA, AMP glow really isn't really that big an issue since that really only shows with longer exposures.
And the 294 sensor is known for it's great low-illumination performance, making it better for EAA.
Also: resolution. https://astronomy.tools/calculators/ccd_suitability shows that the 294 is better suited for your scope with reducer. Maybe also not that important for EAA but every bit counts
So as far as I can can see, the 294 is the better choice for EAA

Re: ZWO 294 or 533 ???
i had a 294..now a 533.. the 294 so far is superior and i miss it but they are nearly impossible to find and i really wanted to get back into eaa so i went with the 533. so far i notice of course the FOV is a big loss the 533 seems less sensittive just sitting at idle around 2s at gain 300..most likely due to the smaller sensor. still working out bugs. im sure it will be fine but if youre patient get the 294
