"uncovering the sensor" in sensor analysis

After doing the "dark" sensor section is says to "Gain and Binning Measurements
SharpCap will prompt you to uncover the sensor." If you used a translucent cover in the first stage do you use it again, or do you actually uncover the sensor without the cover to do the last section?

Hi,

It's best to put the sensor back as it was for the initial phase – so if you used a clear cover then use that again. There is no absolute need to do this (all that is needed is like to be falling on the sensor again), but things will most likely run more smoothly if you put things back as they were. In particular if you change the illumination level at this point you may get issues with either very long or very short exposures in the final parts of the analysis.

Cheers, Robin
