Saving Raw16 for Darks

#1

Post by Spacemanbob »

I had my camara settings turned to RAW16 and set the exposure for the camera.

Then I went to the Capture tab up top and selected Capture Dark Frame. When the processed finished, it put the dark fits file in the Dark folder. But when I opened it in DSS it shows as a gray scale image now color.

Am I missing something or do I need to capture the Darks as RGB24 and save them as fits for the darks.

btw... ZWO ASI 1600MC-Cool is my camera.

Hi,

not sure I quite understand your problem - when you capture a dark in RAW16 the output FITS file will also be RAW, so will have colour data in it, although I don't think DSS will detect this by default as there is no standard way in a FITS file to specify that the data is RAW not monochrome.

cheers,

I am trying to stack the images and apply the Darks but DSS complains and does not see the RAW16 Dark as color, so I can't apply the dark file. I just saw though, that I can apply the darks to the image as it comes in on SharpCap, so I'll give that a try.

Any other stacking program that is good that you recommend that I could use to stack and apply darks.

Bob

Have you set the correct Debayer pattern in DSS?

Options > Settings > Raw/FITS DDP Settings
