Plate solving
Plate solving
SharpCap V.3.1.5038
I receive following error:
"Could not sync mount to plate solve location. Wrong tracking state."
What is going wrong because with earlier version it did worked?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Plate solving
Hi,
the 'wrong tracking state' message came from your mount's ASCOM driver. I'm guessing that maybe the tracking wasn't in sidereal mode which could lead the mount to reject the sync command.
cheers,
Robin

Re: Plate solving
My Evolution mount is tracking 'sideral'. In SharpCap I have also selected 'sideral' tracking.
With a earlier SC version it has worked. Don't known what is changed either in SC or at my setup.
I have included a log file.
I did first a plate solve from the Tools menu (so without syncing) just to see if there will be found a plate solving result. That was OK.
Then I did the "Plate Solve + Sync" command which resulted in the "Could not sync mount" error.
I did the test with only the "All Sky Plate Solver" installed and with only "AstroTortilla" installed.
The log file was with only "AstroTortilla" installed.
I hope that the log file can give a better inside in this problem.
Thanks in advance for your further investigating.
Roel.

Re: Plate solving
Hi,
a log file might well help - if you were planning to attach one then maybe you forgot as there is not one in the posts above . Ideally a log file and a screenshot would give me the most info. You can probably test during the day as follows.
* Fire up mount, connect to ASCOM, slew to something that is currently above the horizon (something in Cassiopeia is good for NH - always above the horizon)
* Find an image of the area of sky you have slewed towards and load it into SharpCap Test Camera 1 (the deep sky one)
Now you can press plate solve and sync in SharpCap - it will solve the image from the test camera and then try to sync your mount to that point.
I don't think the choice of plate solver is going to have an effect in this case - looking at where the message 'Could not sync mount to plate solve location' comes from in the code I can see it's already past the place where the plate solver has done it's job successfully. The problem is the mount rejecting the Sync command for some reason, but no idea why.

How can I load up a image to the test camera?

Hi,
use the 'Image' control on the right (the button is 'Browse...' now, not 'Properties...') - https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/2.9/#Test%20Cameras

Re: Plate solving
Hi,
did it work in SharpCap 3.0 but now fails in 3.1?
I see from the log that your mount is Alt/Az - 3.0 used to send a command to sync to RA/Dec co-ordinates and some mounts didn't like that so I changed the code to send a 'SyncToAltAz' command for an Alt/Az mount. It looks like your mount software may need the RA/Dec sync even though it is an Alt/Az mount.
cheers,
Robin

Re: Plate solving
I've did just areal time test with version 3.0 and sync succeeded!
So it seems that indeed the change was in the pro version as you said.
