64 bit vs 32 bit

#1

Post by MitchJ »

G'day all, I use a basic laptop with a 16gb usb for the data I capture - which seems to work ok, with an SVbony 105 (soon to be upgraded), & at the moment am mainly focusing on Jupiter & Saturn, & I am using the 64 bit version of SmartCap. I wont pretend I know what the difference is between 64 & 32 bit, & am wondering if I would be better off using one over the other. Still fairly new to all this astrophotography stuff, but loving it! Cheers!

Hi,

In general, the 32-bit version of SharpCap seems to be recommended, but
For live stacking with high resolution cameras (12 megapixels and above), it is recommended to use the 64-bit version to avoid possible out-of-memory errors.

For more information, see the SharpCap User Manual (https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/4.0/).
Why don't you refer to the Requirements > Software section?

for reference,
