Sharpcap 3.2.6482 shuts down ...

#1

Post by sharpcapt »

Hello
It has happened about 3-4 times.

First time and possibly 2nd I was on the Beta one, so I though OK it is a beta and you are bound to get these problems.
The above happened while I left SharpCap Stacking.

Now it has happened twice on latest 3.2.6482 and previous one. I updated it to latest because of it and both times while I was doing Darks!

No idea why, I checked protection and nothing is obvious or blocked etc.

Other programs are fine, I have not noticed anything.

Good job I returned to check just now.
I will have to restart the darks 75 minutes in total ...

I think twice ... possibly ... was when I was taking 50x 90s darks - a lot, maybe program has a program with the amount in Mb/Gb of data?

Any idea?

Regards
M

Addition: I also noticed when this happens and I re-run it, camera control panel reset to its wider stat - right side it twice as large as I set it.

Something is definitely happening.

Hi,

if SharpCap shuts down completely without showing an error report window then it is often a crash in code supplied by a camera manufacturer that SharpCap has no direct control over :(

If it happens again, consider following the instructions here to create a crash dump file and send it to me : viewtopic.php?t=5 (note, the folder will be SharpCap 3.2, not 2.10!)

Another thing to consider is antivirus software - any time things behave in a truly unexpected way, it's always possible that antivirus is blocking something or trying to interfere where it shouldn't. From experience Avast is the most intrusive and most likely to cause issues, but there are other guilty parties out there. The 'free, but we want you to pay for the premium version' ones tend to be the worst...

Finally, what camera are you using?

cheers,

Robin

Hi
OK, will do.

AV is MWB Premium paid version, the rest is free but they do not bother anything as far as I remember - Comodo Firewall [set in learning mode - I control it] and SpyBot SD does not really interfere with anything - it is that good.

Anyway, personally I believe it could be the Camera driver, although it has worked fine with previous versions and only happened as mentioned above.

Thanks
M

PS I then re-started 3.2 version and although camera listed and chosen, there was no signal at all - as if camera was not talking with SharpCap.
Started the 4.** version and it worked fine.

Just a note: no need to open another ticket.
The RGB default for QHY294PROC is 16-16-16 and not 120-120-120.

I have its saved and load every time.

Thanks for this wonderful program ...

Just to add to the list ... and tried now.

Using latest QHYCCD.dll

1. If I run SharpCap 3.2. latest camera is now NOT detected by Application - Windows is fine
2. if I run SharpCap 4 beta camera is detected - same as above for .dll

I am getting quite confused.

This has been happening in the last 2-3 updates of stable version.

I do not understand... by the way, it seems 4 beta loads RGB 16-16-16 = correctly.

ADDITION

As I guessed, it is the 64bit versions I have problems.
I run the beta 4 or stable 3.2 32 bits and works fine!

Hi,

I've done lots of work trying to get the more modern QHY cameras working correctly in SharpCap 4.0 (I have the 294PROC sitting on my desk right now). I'd certainly recommend using SharpCap 4.0 for that camera, not 3.2

cheers,

Robin
