Question about our Club's Pro license

#1

Post by jeff2011 »

Hello Robin,

My astronomy club recently purchased the Pro license for use in our club's observatory. We do viewings for the public and have been closed since COVID started but plan to reopen using EAA instead of viewing through the eyepiece.

Your license FAQ states that the license can be "installed" on only one computer for clubs and organizations. We have a primary computer and a backup computer in case the primary computer dies. These computers stay in our observatory dome and will not be used elsewhere. Would it be OK to install the same Pro license on our backup computer as well as the primary or at least transfer the license to the backup at the time the primary computer dies? We want to be compliant with your license terms and wanted to assure your that all of our club members that use SharpCap on their own computers have their own SharpCap Pro license.

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

as long as you don't use both at the same time then that would be fine. My goal is not to make small clubs pay over the odds, merely to try to stop larger organizations using one license across a whole department or in a large teaching lab.

cheers,

Robin
