Can flats made in Sharpcap to be used in other programs

Post by DanK »

The Sharpcap manual says that flats or master flats made in other programs can be used in other programs. Is the reverse true?

I want to acquire my subs (lights) as FITS files, make my master flats and master darks in Sharpcap. Will I have issues in Pixinsight or Astropixel Processor when I try to preprocess these files?

Hi Dan,

the results are mixed - some people get it to work nicely, others run into trouble. I suspect it may come down to how much the final image is stretched. The safest thing is to do all the processing in the same application as that ensures that the treatment of the image is consistent throughout.

cheers,

I don't remember what I did then but I made my flats anew last night and ticked the mono button. The DS26c made the flats but crashes when it tries to average them. The DS26c (Mallincamsky camera) also crashes when I try to do sensor analysis at full bit depth (16).

I will make sure to catch the crashes and submit the log/bug file as these incidents occur
