My ASI290 and ASI533 show up as 2 ASI290 cameras
My ASI290 and ASI533 show up as 2 ASI290 cameras
I have an ASI290MM that I use as my guide cam and a new ASI533MC for pictures. At the moment I cannot use my ASI533 because it does not show up as an available camera under SharpCap. What I see are two instances of my ASI290 and no it’s not a label problem it two of the 290. I restart SharpCap and get the same thing. I restart the 533 ...same thing. I don’t know if this is a driver issue or not. If I disconnect the 290 then the 533 shows up. I can’t do that for long as the 290 is my guide cam. I’m at a loss what to do at the moment.

Hi,
can I just check that you are using the very latest version of SharpCap (download from http://www.sharpcap.co.uk/sharpcap/downloads) - if you have an old version it may not see the 533 properly.
cheers,
Robin

I see you are up to 3.2.6477. I downloaded both the 32 and 64 bit versions as well as both versions of your current 3.3 beta. Let me try those and see if it does not work better.
Re: My ASI290 and ASI533 show up as 2 ASI290 cameras
Ok so I have done a number of things. I downloaded the latest 32 bit and 64 bit versions of SharpCap for both release and beta version. I deleted all ZWO drivers and software from my PC. I downloaded and installed the Native ZWO drivers, the ASCOM ZWO drivers and ASIStudio. All of these are the latest versions. I did a screenshot of the SharpCap Cameras menu and the Device Manager window showing installed devices.
Here is the SharpCap Cameras Menu from the released 64 bit version of SharpCap
https://flic.kr/p/2kzBoZK
Here is the Device Manager listing showing the two ZWO Cameras
https://flic.kr/p/2kzC4yQ
I only show 1 of the 4 version of SharpCap that is installed but they are all the same, regardless of the version.
UPDATE:
So also looked at the ASIImg application and it sees the same thing so now I'm thinking this is probably a driver issue. I posted the same info on the ZWO forum. If I get some response I will post here. In the mean time if there is a log or something specific that would help resolve the issue I will get it and post it.

Re: My ASI290 and ASI533 show up as 2 ASI290 cameras
Hi,
Thanks for the updated info – I think you're correct that this is a problem with either the driver or the ZWO SDK software - in either case it's going to be something for ZWO to fix, not something that I could fix in SharpCap.
As you can see from the screenshot below, this isn't something that typically happens when you have two or more ZWO cameras – quite sure why it happens to you in your particular situation. It might be worth trying on a second PC if you have access to one.
cheers,
Robin

Re: My ASI290 and ASI533 show up as 2 ASI290 cameras
Hi Robin,
I've not seen any replies on the ZWO forum... and I'm not holding my breath. They make a nice camera but I've also seen lots and lots of complaints relative to them breaking them often with driver updates. For the moment I have an older Atik Titan guide cam that works quite nice and should play well with the ASI533. Of course the blue color clashes and I'm sure I'm making an astrophotography fashion fo-paux but thinking I really don't care.
I will post here if I get an update. ..... in other news, loving working with SharpCap. Your program is the bomb.

Interesting - I have an ASI 533 and a 290MM (not the mini though) and they both appear fine in my versions of sharpcap - either 3.3.7146 - 64 bit and 32bit and 3.2.6411 64bit and 32 bit.
Driver (from device manager) - ZWO 3.16.0.0 dated 30/12/2020.

Re: My ASI290 and ASI533 show up as 2 ASI290 cameras
Well all I can say is it doesn’t work for me. I’ve neither the time nor the patient to debug ZWOs driver issues. I’ve heard nothing on their forum. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled all of their drivers as well as making sure I’m up to date on SharpCap to no avail. I’ll just use my Atik as a guide camera and go from there. I’m not reinstalling Windows for certain as there is no assurance that would fix the issue and that is a major pain to do. I don’t have a second PC to try as all of my other home computers are either Linux or Mac.
