I want to purchase a 15 foot usb3 cable for my ZWO295 camera. Can anyone tell me which of the following would be a good choice (these are advertised on Amazon as):
1.) a "power" extension cable
2.) An "active" extension cable
3.) An "active" repeater cable
4.) Active Extension with AC power
If possible, please explain why the choice you've selected works best. Please feel free to suggest any alternative not listed.
Thank you all,
Joe

Re: Help choosing a usb3 extension chord for ZWO295 camera
The standard for USB 3 cable length is 3 meters little less than 10 feet. Anything above that will either need to be put into a powered hub or use an active cable. Active cable is more or less has a hub built in to amplify the signal. Problem with this approach is that there is no standard. Any of these types of cables will be hit or miss. Suggest a search om Cloudy Nights on the subject. You'll be sure to get plenty of advice and hopefully find some recommendations based on use of an active cable.
