Shutter speed control appears to be backwards?

#1

Post by stevecrm »

I recently modified a Logitech c170 to connect to my telescope and I've been using sharpcap to capture the video.

I understand the controls but the exposure time control seems backwards to me. If I choose 1/500 second Jupiter is overexposed and blurs across the screen, if I choose 1/10 seconds Jupiter is dim but sharp no matter the motion of the scope.

Has anyone has this happen before?

Hi,

This is a quirk that is unique to certain Logitech WebCams where the Logitech developers managed to complete the stuff up the implementation of the exposure property and get it back to front. With the affected cameras now being very old and becoming very rare, I'm not planning on trying to build a workaround in SharpCap for this flaw.

Cheers, Robin

Very interesting! Good to know I'm not totally insane or incompetent haha!

Totally understand about not fixing that bug, no big deal on my end, I'll manage just fine by visually setting it.

Thank you so much for the fast response!
