astrometry.net website problem

#1

Post by turfpit »

Folks

FYI - I have just tried to upload a file for plate solving to atstrometry.net/upload. I received this message (on multiple browsers)

It looks like the site has been restricted due to a security issue. Some further information here:

Yikes!

It's working for me at this moment. Did you have an alternative to nova.astrometry.net? I like to do everything locally just in case internet is not available. SC will do plate solving for you. Also, you can use All Sky Plate Solver application.

Still the same security message. Probably an IP block that has been restricted (Europe or UK?). I can wait till it is back. Thanks for the alternate options. I am keen on backing up my data but I never though I would have to back up my plate solver :)

I have had trouble with Astrometry. I can clearly see the object, but for some reason it does annotate them.

I wonder if there are other sites like Astrometry. The reason I ask is because Astrometery have Messier, NGC, IC, and Abell, but not UGC, MCG, PGC, CGCG, etc.
