One other possible feature addition for the next versions of SharpCap that occurred to me is hopefully quite simple to implement. In the Live Stack panel, it would be nice to be able to see the individual frames as the star/live stack algorithm sees them, ie. process and display the individual frames with the current settings in the Alignment tab. Sometimes, its difficult to tell exactly what is preventing SharpCap from finding stars, so being able to see through "SharpCap's eyes" would be really helpful when star alignment is stubbornly no working. The digital gain, black threshold and noise reduction settings are sometimes hard to get just right. An additional item, "Star Alignment View", could be added in the Live Stack windows "View" pull down menu that currently just has "Stack" and "Individual Frames" to allow observing the quality of star images as these settings are adjusted.

Hi,

either I'm not understanding you or you just need to select

view: Individual Frames *and*
alignment: Highlight Detected Stars = ticked

This shows each frame as it comes in and flags the stars detected in that frame.

cheers,

Hi,

i´m using SharpCap also for eaa, so i´m in for the 3.2 with all the nice features for eaa.

for noise reduction: is it possible to seperate the noise reduction for color and for lumi?
also, are there plans for mgen dithering?

Regards, Markus

Hi,

currently the gaussian noise reduction works on the 3 colour channels individually, but the bilateral filter is colour sensitive and should tend to reduce noise well within a particular colour area without softening edges so much. I will look into other ideas like colour/luminance noise reduction for possible inclusion in a future version.

I am planning to support dithering but for PHD2 only in this version.

cheers,

Robin

Robin,
sorry to pitch in a new request at this stage, but would it be possible to either make the text colours on the histogram pane (mean & SD) adjustable, or even just to lighten the primary blue - dark blue on black really isn’t easy to read...?
Thanks,
Carl
