SharpCap 3.0 and SharpCap Pro now available!

#1

Post by admin »

I have just made the release build of SharpCap 3.0 available at http://www.sharpcap.co.uk/sharpcap/downloads.

A full description of the major improvements in SharpCap 3.0 can be found here - http://www.sharpcap.co.uk/sharpcap/news ... sharpcap30.

Complimentary licenses for SharpCap Pro are being sent out right now to everyone who has donated in the past - they will go to paypal email addresses used for donations.

Let's hope that everything from the software to the complimentary licenses to the purchase page work properly - as well as being the biggest release ever in terms of changes to the product, it's also the most complicated in terms of things that need to happen in the right order!

cheers,

Robin

Just purchased Pro but having problems with install. I think it is to do with .Net as it starts installing then errors.

Hi,

yes, I think you are right that it is the update to the .NET Framework that is not going through smoothly. You have version 4.5.1 installed and SharpCap is upgrading to 4.5.2. Normally this should be fine, but when something does go wrong you see less information about the problem because the upgrade is packaged with SharpCap.

The best thing to try is the manual upgrade which you will find here - https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/downloa ... x?id=42642.

I'd suggest running the upgrade straight after rebooting your machine with no other applications open as there are some hints that the error code you received may be an indication that the upgrade cannot proceed because files are in use. Mind you, there doesn't seem to be any real agreement over what that error code means - that's just one of the suggestions :(

cheers,

Robin
