I have essentially the same FLIR USB camera (IMX249 rather than IMX174) and it works with FLIR's FlyCap Viewer, but not with the latest SharpCap v3.1.5214 even though c:\windows\SysWOW64\msvcp140.dll exists and I installed SharpCap PreRequisits and PtGreyVideoEncoder_v140.zip. The log file shows it did search for a Point grey camera, but threw an error. I have Win-10 Pro 64-bit and installed the 64-bit version of FlyCapture. Maybe I should be using the 32-bit version ?

The reason I'm not satisfied with FlyCap Viewer is that it appears that the max exposure is limited to 1 second, when it should be at least 3.9 s.

Hi,

try installing the extra 'SharpCap Prerequisites Installer' from the downloads page - I think that should fix the issue. The idea of that separate installer was to keep the download size smaller for users of common camera types (ZWO, QHY, etc), but it has been more hassle than it is worth. It's gone in the 3.2 beta and there is just one installer with everything required in it.

cheers,

Robin

Yesterday I posted that I had the same problem even after installing the suggested extras.
But there is one more thing necessary to make SharpCap work with FLIR cameras :-)
Install the 32-bit version of FlyCapture, not the 64-bit version, even if you have a 64-bit computer system !

With 32-bit FlyCapture installed, SharpCap works, and I am delighted with it. The interface is more intuitive than FlyCap, the settings and interface layout are remembered when SharpCap is restarted (unlike FlyCap) etc... I also tried SharpCap with a Lodestar X2. and again it works beautifully. I will try it with an Atik camera next.

Congratulations to the SharpCap author for a very professional application. Kind regards, Alan.

Hi,

thanks for the report - interesting that you must have the 32 bit flycapture installed (I'd never spotted that). I will have to test to see if there is a way around that by adding some more files to the SharpCap installer or not.

For Atik cameras you will have to use the Atik ASCOM driver. I do not have any Atik cameras personally, so that is untested (at least by me).

cheers,

Robin
