SharpCaps new annual license fee.?

A bit of bad news here SharpCap will be charging a annual fee. I started using SharpCap with my first ZWO camera and it seems to work very well, SharpCap was free but now SharpCap wants to charge an annual fee for a license. Now maybe a one time reasonable license purchase would work like some of the other camera control programs... but a continuous annual fee.. I don't think so that will definitely not work for me.. I'm not paying a annual fee. I probably would pay a one-time license fee because I like the program. I will be moving on to another camera control program if this happens.

SharpCaps new monthly or annual license fee, I prefer not to get my finances involved with a monthly or annual license fee for a camera control program especially with foreign currency.. Why don't SharpCap also offer the option to purchase a one time license.. like some of the other camera control programs.? http://www.sharpcap.co.uk/sharpcap/premium

You seem very anti an annual charge which is fair enough. On the other hand the advantage of annual pricing is it lets the annual price be much lower than it would be for a permanent license - the typical ratio is 3:1 or more.

You will still be able to use new versions of SharpCap without paying for the license if you don't want to, it's just that certain features won't be available to you. The Pro features are listed here : http://www.sharpcap.co.uk/sharpcap/sharpcappro.

One of the drivers for this is the amount of time that goes into producing and supporting SharpCap has been growing over the last year or two and has got to the point that it needs some sort of return to make it worthwhile to continue.

cheers,

Robin
