I have a ZWO1600 color camera, and would like to know the pros/cons of the setting to save FITS files without stretching.

Re: Setting to save FITS files without stretching
Hi,
Cons:
* Images may look dark when viewed unless you stretch them
* If you have adjusted the gamma/contrast/colour balance controls away from default, you may loose some data
* If you are using RGB or MONO modes on a colour camera you may loose some data
Pros:
* Some analysis software is not happy with the stretched FITS files, so having the correct values would fix any issues there
In generaly, unless you know you need to do it then don't!
cheers,
Robin
