Let me walk you through what you should see, and maybe spotting where things at your end stop following the correct stages will help work out what is wrong.

First, you should see the downloaded installer in the downloads directory - depending on the way you have the 'View' of the downloads directory set up you may see it slightly differently - like one of the below.
xp1.PNG
xp1.PNG (29.2 KiB) Viewed 2702 times
xp2.PNG
xp2.PNG (27.34 KiB) Viewed 2702 times
If you can see the icon then that's a good sign that the download is OK.

When you double click on the installer you may get a warning about unknown publisher like this -
xp3.PNG
xp3.PNG (16.19 KiB) Viewed 2702 times
You need to press the 'Run' button when you see this, which should move you on to the beginning of the installer itself
xp5.PNG
xp5.PNG (22.88 KiB) Viewed 2702 times
If you don't see the unknown publisher warning *or* the installer starting when you double click then try the following -

* Right click on the installer file and select 'Properties' from the right click menu
* Press the 'Unblock' button on the properties (see below)
* Press OK to close the properties window
* Then go back and double click on the installer again
xp4.PNG
xp4.PNG (33.5 KiB) Viewed 2702 times
If you do get the start screen of the installer then obviously press the 'Install' button, which should then run through cleanly until you get to the end
xp6.PNG

Hope this helps,

Hi Robin,
The downloaded SharpCap file, 2.9.3086, that is in my download folder does not show the image of Jupiter. There is a graphic of a screen and SharpCapInstall-2.9.3086.0 is printed to the right of the graphic. The graphic in my download file is the same graphic that shows in the window that you show and is labeled "Open file security warning" I do not get the Open file security warning window, but the graphic i get in my download file is the same one that is in the security warning window.

I have done the download about a dozen times and the result is always the same.
I have not been able to attache screenshots for you to see.
Thanks

Hmm, not looking good - how big does it say that file is (you can see in my image it is shown as 25.1Mb - I'm wondering if the downloaded file is incomplete?

What browser are you using for the download?

cheers,

Robin

Ok, time to check if the download is somehow corrupt.

Please go to

https://md5file.com/calculator

in your web browser.

Click on the green bit and select the SharpCap installer from your download folder.
After a few seconds you should see a lot of verification codes of the file contents appear. Look at the one labelled SHA1 and check it matches the value below.

SHA-1 1618b5f208a64ca2a5acdf95ecf0313f1a0617e7

If the values match then you have a valid copy of the SharpCap download - if you get anything different then the download has been corrupted.

Let me know which it turns out to be.

cheers,

Ok,

I think the conclusion I have is that something on your computer is stopping you from reading the content of that file - that is stopping the icon from appearing, stopping it from running and stopping it from working in the checksum calculator.

The question is, of course, what? This sort of thing is usually associated with anti-virus, but you don't have any. Did you try the 'unblock' button on the properties dialog?

cheers,

Robin
