Can't see a way to do this.
If I'm missing something, how do I do this?
If not, can this feature be added? Filter name should be visible in the flat filename as well as the FILTER keyword.
This is needed in Pixinsight ( and possibly other programs) which automatically match flats to lights using filters. Right now i am doing it manually but would purge to use the available automated feature
Get filternsme in flats file and FITS keywords

Re: Get filternsme in flats file and FITS keywords
Ah, interesting!
There is currently no framework to give custom names to flat files (which makes adding the filter name to the file name hard). On the other hand, I think getting the FILTER keyword into the FITS headers will be easier - I will investigate.
cheers,
Robin

Re: Get filternsme in flats file and FITS keywords
Thanks. Adding to the FILTER keyword will do for now as that is what is generally picked up.
Regarding the file name, just to be clear, the ask is not for custom naming, its to change the default (and only) way it is named.
The current filename if I remember correctly is something like
<ExpTime>_<CaptureTime>_<Offset%>.fit
I'm suggesting the file instead be named as
masterflat_<Filter>_<ExpTime>_<Date:s>_<CaptureTime>_<Offset%>.fit
No customisation required. If anyone wants to add other imaging train details they can rename the file manually.
I suppose if the filter name can be picked up and deposited into the FITS header it can also be put into the name?
Thanks

Re: Get filternsme in flats file and FITS keywords
Hi,
I just tested this afternoon and I was getting FILTER headers in the saved flat FITS file (latest SharpCap 4.0, with a filter wheel connected). Can you confirm if you see the same or not. Very odd.
cheers,
Robin

Hi Robin
I use the manual filter wheel setting and in neither Flats or Darkflats the filter name is in the header.
This with SC 4.0.8315

Hi Robin,
I just checked. Its there in the header in the flats I just took to test.
But not in the flats taken on 15 October.
Is this a recent addition?

Hi,
no, but I wonder if the way it gets there might not be reliable - it may depend on exposure length (very short exposure may not populate the data) and other factors. I will investigate a bit more.
