inclusion of camera sensor temperature in FITS header

#1

Post by KJeffEriksen »

Hi,

When I collect a series of target exposures, SC writes a text file with image info to the folder where the frames are to be saved, and that includes the camera sensor temp. But when I use, for instance, FitsWork to open one of the images files, it does not show the temp in the FITS header. Can it be added? I would like to know the temp for each sub-frame. I have a non-cooled camera and need to create a dark library for a variety of temperatures.

Thanks,
-Jeff

Hi,

what camera and what version of SharpCap are you using? SharpCap will write the 'CCD-TEMP' header for most cameras that can report a temperature, but its possible that I have missed setting it for one of the less common brands (for instance I only spotted it was missing from StarlightXpress cameras very recently - that is now fixed in the very latest SharpCap 4.0).

cheers,

Robin
