How can i adjust the stacking algorithm to be more sensitive to satellite trails? Also how many frames does it take to remove them?
Thanks
Ronald

Re: Satellite trails
Hi Ronald,
the following should help:
1) turn on 'sigma clipped' stacking, see https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/4.0/#Stacking%20Tab
2) if necessary turn down the sigma threshold
3) the first 10 or so frames (see initial frame count) are not protected against satellite trails - this is the period when SharpCap builds up the statistical information that is required to detect excessively bright pixel data that allows it to reject satellite trails from then on.
cheers,
Robin

Re: Satellite trails
Ok thanks for reply, another question would using an initial frame count of 5 make any difference?
Thanks again Ronald

Re: Satellite trails
Hi,
there is obviously less chance of getting a trail in the first 5 frames than the first 10, but there are some negatives to it - the effectiveness of determining what values are 'good' and what values are 'bad' is reduced when the initial number of frames is smaller - that means that it may let in more satellite trails later or may get some other artifacts in the image if the value of particular pixels is abnormal during the first few frames. It's one of those things where you have to try it our really to see if it helps in your situation.
cheers,
Robin
