First steps with ZWO ASI 224MC

#1

Post by piotrd »

Hi folks, I am doing my first steps with planetary imaging using ZWO ASI 224 MC and Sharpcap.

I use 32-bit SharpCap version on my Mac High Sierra (as recommended on the website) - it works out of the box, the only thing that was missing and I had to install was `libusb`. I tried to record Jupiter yesterday using this setup and my Skywatcher 150/750.

The first issue I observed is that each frame looks like it had some kind of a mask applied on the Jupiter, please see the attached screenshot from Lynkeos.

Is it something wrong about drivers? Or maybe I picked wrong parameters? I have to admit I was experimenting with SharpCap parameters trying to use those looking best "visually" on my Mac's screen:

Code: Select all

Hello

The grid you are seeing is the Bayer pattern. Have a read at this viewtopic.php?f=35&t=254. You should have enough in the doc to use your data and recover the colours. Try using SER rather than AVI. Use RAW8 colour space (rather than RGB) and programs like Autostakkert will handle the embedded colours. Have a look at the camera settings here viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2857, it is for a ZWO ASI120MC but should get you started.

Note - you posted a FireCapture settings file in a SharpCap Forum.
