Quick Capture

The options on the Quick Capture drop-down....What does, for instance, 120 seconds relate to? I wanted to capture a 2 minute video, but it only gave me 45 frames. Similarly with the 60.

Hi,

If you use the time-limited options in quick capture then SharpCap should basically behave as though you would press the start capture button and then waited for the amount of time and then press the stop capture button. If your exposure is one second you might expect to get 60 frames from 60s quick capture - in practice you might get a few less as there are sometimes delays between the frames depending on the model of camera. If you have a very high resolution sensor on your camera, then each frame can take longer to write to disk – particularly if you use file formats like fits. If each frame is taking two seconds to write to disk then SharpCap won't manage to capture as many frames because the writing of them can become the thing that slows the capture down rather than the grabbing the frames from the camera.

Cheers, Robin
