Hi,

This is a test web format (frame source editing) for the current document, and we have decided to create it in the new document.
How is the operability?

Hi,

that looks promising. I have now completed a second draft of the user manual for SC 4.0. The online documentation at https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/4.0 has been updated and the CHM file will be updated in next Monday's release.

Do you want me to send you a copy of the docx version via email?

Hi,

Thanks, please send me a copy of the docx version for reference.

We've already decided on the format for creating the document file, and we're ready to go,
There are two types of files: CHM files, which are directly translated and edited from the source, and web format, which I mentioned in today's post.

The link for the CHM file "Installation and First Steps" (http://www.sharpcap.co.uk/) is not displayed correctly due to a script error, and is finally displayed with the "No" button.

Hi,

I will remove the link to the lifecam drivers as I think it is no longer relevant.

The script errors are generally a result of trying to show a modern web page in the (ancient) browser used for CHM. Really all external links in the CHM should be made to launch in a separate browser rather than the CHM viewer. It may be possible to do that by adding _target="blank" to the <a> tags (see https://www.w3schools.com/tags/att_a_target.asp). The challenge with that approach (even if it works) is to work out how to do it automatically in the process I use to build the CHM.

cheers

Hi,

Indeed I was able to view it in another browser when I added target="blank".
This is the best way to solve the problem.

In the web format version, the solution is to right-click on the link and select the menu item "Open link in new window".

However,
When you link to a page on another site using the target="_blank" attribute, you can expose your site to performance and security issues

Adding rel="noopener" or rel="noreferrer" to your target="_blank" links avoids these issues.
(See https://web.dev/external-anchors-use-rel-noopener/)

Hi,

(Continued from PM...)

Both Word and CHM Processor do not seem to be able to add the rel attribute automatically, but I will add rel="noopener" manually during the translation process that I am currently working on, because I am concerned about possible problems with site security.

Hi,

Importance of adding 「rel="noopener"」 to the "_blank" link that opens a new tab.

After all, according to my own research, it is extremely necessary to add a security aspect.

Shall I manually add "rel="noopener"" to the corresponding link in the English CHM HTML file (.htm) and send it to you, or what?

Hi,

I don't think it is relevant to the CHM file, since now all the links in the CHM file have _target="blank", they get opened by default into your main browser application, so there is no way that they can share any resources with the windows help viewer application.

cheers,

Robin
