Questions about Japanese localization of SharpCapUserManual

#1

Post by Toshihito Watanabe »

Hello

Nice to meet you, my name is Watanabe in Japan and I'm an amateur astronomer.

File name: SharpCapUserManual (.chm) requires Japanese translation for our Japanese users

In actual work using this software, it takes a lot of time to investigate the question.

Therefore, in order to translate this SharpCapUserManual (.chm) into Japanese and share it for Japanese-speaking users

If you want to publish on us, can you permit?

Here is a question to the SharpCapUserManual (.chm) creator.

If I edit this file into Japanese, will you give me permission?

Also, can you permit me to publish this Japanese file on the web?

Hi,

Thanks for getting in touch with me here on the forums – I tried to reply to your email, but the reply address did not work (it was some weird long string of numbers @outlook.com).

I think this would be a great idea and I would certainly be prepared to host the translated version online.

You can find the English version online here - https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/3.2/ - the content is exactly the same as in the CHM file.

You can also make Google translate the whole online manual for you - see https://translate.google.com/translate? ... k%2F3.2%2F. Maybe this would help, but I suspect the quality of the translation will be fairly poor.

If it helps I can send you a copy of the documentation in Microsoft Word format, which is what I use to create both the online version and the CHM file.

Thanks, Robin

Hi, Robin

Thank you for answering my question.

Ah, in fact, the Japanese translation of SharpCapUserManual (.chm) is almost complete.

Again, what I want to ask is in the latter part of the question.

If I edit this file into Japanese, will you give me permission?

Also, can you permit me to publish this Japanese file on the web?

Thank you, Watanabe.

Hi,

I'm happy for you to distribute your translated copy as long as it retains the original copyright notice (in addition to your own copyright notice for the translation) and that you include a link to the SharpCap main website on the page you make it downloadable from. I would also like to be able to distribute the translated version from the main SharpCap website as well.

It would be great to have the translated version on the documentation website and available in PDF format as well if you can think of any way to transfer your work into those formats.

Hope this helps, Robin

Hi Robin

We will send you the edited Japanese version of SharpCapUserManual (.chm).

It is a compressed folder, when you open the “SharpCap_Ja_HTML” folder in it

“SharpCapUserManual_Ja.chm” is a Japanese translation version.

The other “SharpCapUserManual_files” is an image file.

Note that the image file is a relationship that is set to access as a local PC.

Do not change the file name of the “SharpCap_Ja_HTML” folder, of course, the Japanese translation version (.chm)

Image files are stored in the same directory.

Please contact us if you have any inconvenience such as file not opening.

Click below to download.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hLxaMd ... sp=sharing

Click on the unzipped “SharpCapUserManual_Ja.chm” and a security warning screen will appear.

Click the “Open” button. If you do not see anything on the screen when you click on the file

Open the property screen of “SharpCapUserManual_Ja.chm”, the lower security ...

Put ✔ in “Allow” and OK button should be fine.

Thank you Watanabe.

Hi Robin

Did you open the "Japanese Translated SharpCapUserManual (.chm)" file you sent the other day successfully?

It is not 100% perfect, but I intend to edit the current English file as faithfully as possible.

Local time in Japan: December 2nd I published it on my blog.

My blog : https://nabepla.blogspot.com/

If you have any good ideas? I would like to propose to you.

Thank you Watanabe.

Hi,

Sorry not to get back to you sooner. I've downloaded the translated version and I did notice a couple of things that didn't seem quite right.

First, when I opened the CHM file I see the titles of the sections on the left-hand side, but the text of the document never shows on the right-hand side.

I unpacked the CHM file and found that I could view the contents of the HTML content correctly, but the images do not load. I think this is because the images are linked to the location of the files on your computer

Code: Select all

<p class="MsoNormal"><img border="0" width="261" height="108" id="Picture 254" src="file:///C:/SharpCap_Ja_HTML/SharpCapUserManual_files/image333.jpg"></p>

Do you think that these problems are fixable?

thanks, Robin
