Hi,

Introduction to the SharpCap User Interface
Opening text: Upon starting SharpCap and dismissing the Tip of the Day message, the following screen appears.

I don't need a "Tip of the Day message.

and,

The temporary area is:
1. Notification Bar – appears below the Tool Bar upon completion of a Capture or Snapshot and provides a clickable link to go directly to the appropriate folder where the file has been stored. The notification bar is also used to provide other information – a green notification bar indicates success; a yellow bar indicates a warning and an orange bar indicates an error has occurred.

Underlined text - 「the appropriate folder where the file has been stored」

The location of the folder where the file is saved is not specific enough.
How about revising it to the following text?

'Go directly to the folder "SharpCap Captures" on the desktop where the files are stored'

Hi,

the 'tip of the day' does show when SharpCap is first installed with the default settings - I expect most people turn them off fairly quickly though. Remember that this guide is for the first installation, so people will see the tip appear.

I think the wording could be clearer about what clicking the blue link does, but saying it goes to the SharpCap Captures folder is incorrect - clicking on the folder part of the blue link opens the folder where the capture file was saved. Clicking the file part opens the file itself. Feel free to re-word your version to make that clearer.

thanks,

Robin

Hi,

I'm afraid I didn't explain myself properly.
No, what I'm asking is...

Current text - to be specific about "the appropriate folder where the files are stored", how about "the SharpCap Captures folder on the desktop where the files are stored"?

Hi,

And two more corrections need to be made.

If the SharpCap window is not wide enough to accommodate all the tool icons, the Tool Bar will look like this with a down arrow at the right-hand end:
and,
Click the down arrow to access the rest of the tool icons:

The 'down arrow' is '>>' as shown in the screenshot below.

other,

Should 'Frames dropped' be translated as 'Deleted frames'(削除したフレーム)?

I need the "Controls_en.json" file with all the Japanese translations to keep the program consistent, but it's not available yet, can you send it to me?

Hi,

thank you, I have re-worded the description of what the hyperlinks in the notification bar do and fixed the incorrect screenshot/text relating to the tool bar overflow area.

'Deleted Frames' doesn't feel right in English - lost frames might be better.

The current versions of the translation files can be found by installing the latest SharpCap 4.0 - they will be in C:\Program Files (x86)\SharpCap 4.0\LanguageFiles

thanks,

admin wrote: Wed Jun 23, 2021 1:31 pm Hi,

everything has a translation in that file in the latest versions of SharpCap (apart from 'MONO' and 'fps' which I'm told should be OK as they are).

Oddly the hardest thing about the translation has been when two or more people both decide to help - one person will translate a particular word or phrase and then a week later someone else will tell me that the first translation is no good and it should be something else...

cheers,

Robin

Hi,

No, it's not.

The previous article said it was all translated, but the latest version of LanguageFiles --Controls_en.json (4.0.7944.0) was still updated on May 5, 2021 with some untranslated parts of Program Control.

Does "everything has a translation..." mean that only Menus, toolbars, and camera controls are translated (the rest is in English)?

Hi,

yes, in this version of SharpCap only the menus, toolbars and camera controls get translated - translating the whole of SharpCap is a massive project and will probably never happen fully, although I do intend to extend the translation to more areas in SC 4.1 and later versions.

thanks,

Internationalization is a large undertaking. It's been 2 weeks since I started translation of my web app to support Japanese, French, and German. I figure one or two more days of work.

The most important lesson I learned is to reject the use of jargon if at all possible. For example, when I began writing the app, I chose to refer to a Celestial Object as a Target. As I learned, Target does not translate well into other languages. Of course, we can't avoid jargon, but we should use it only when it is well-established and understood by the reader.

Hi, Robin

I wish you had been more specific about "everything has a translation...".

The translation of the entire SharpCap software would be a huge, huge undertaking, but I was disappointed, because I'm more of a perfectionist (everything should be perfect), and this means that the program part is the same compared to the old version (v3.2).

(This is commercial software, so I can't disclose too much about it)
In the past, I've been able to convert all of that massive MaxIm DL 6 into Japanese. So there is probably nothing that can't be done for SharpCap as well.

'Run Recent' The Japanese translation is unnatural, so please correct it by deleting some of the text as shown below.
