NET FRamework with Vista

#1

Post by Astro »

Hi, Hope, someone can help. I was hoping to use an old laptop, running Windows Vista, for SharpCap. In the download section there is a Vista download but when I try to install it it gets stuck when loading NET Framework 4.5.2. I've tried down loading this version of NET Framework as a stand alone but had no luck. Looking through the Microsoft website it looks like you cannot use this version of Framework with Vista but if SharpCap download is specific for Vista and in itself attempts to load Framework there must be a way to do it. Can anyone offer any suggests? Thanks for your help.

Hi,

you need to make sure that your Windows Vista installation has been updated to Vista Service Pack 2, then the .Net framework 452 should be able to install.

Vista SP2 install - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... x?id=16468

.NET 452 Install - https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/downloa ... x?id=42642

hope this helps,

Thanks for this. I have tried this, SP2 is installed but when I try to install the NET Framework the installation (the green bar) gets stuck early on. I have left it for several hours and it does not progress. I have an earlier version of NET Framework, version 3.5, already installed. Any idea what I can do, I'm at at loss :( Thanks

Hi again. Problem FIXED.
I uninstalled my existing NET Framework (v3.5), did a clean re-boot and installed v4.5.2.

I also had this problem and it was fixed by first uninstalling .NET Framework 3.5. Thank you for posting the fix!
