Hi Robin,
I would think that overall accuracy would be compromised but would it be possible to allow live stacking for UVC webcams which don't have provision for exposures greater than 0.5s while using the polar alignment tool? The inexpensive OV2710 based board cameras are nearly sensitive enough for detection so perhaps with a bit of software live stacking (and dark frame subtraction) the price of admission could be lowered even further for a total solution using your software and a turn-key finder/webcam approach for under $100.
Clear skies,
Bill

Re: Live stacking while polar aligning
Yes, I see, a simple stacking of 5 or so frames to boost the star detection might suffice. Interesting idea - thanks.
