Dynamic Live Stack Histogram

#1

Post by Tfer »

I took a quick look, but didn’t notice any mention of this possibility.

Is it possible to make the histogram during Live Stacking dynamic?

For instance, if you slid the black point (left side) over to the right, the histogram itself would resize, making finer movements possible.

Same thing would go for the white point. Slide it to the left, and the histogram outside of the white point would disappear and the histogram itself would utilize the area between the black and white points, making the best possible use of the limited space occupied by it.

If it left a bit of room to the outside of the black/white points, a user would still be able to move backwards as need be, as more data was collected.

Hitting the reset button would open up the entire histogram again.

Hi,

yes, it's a nice idea as sometimes the adjustments can get very fiddly. Unfortunately it's not a particularly easy change to make, which is why there are some alternatives that can help, including

* putting the histogram horizontal axis into logarithmic mode, which gives more space to the shadows and mid levels at the expense of the highlights
* various ways to make fine adjustments to the stretch levels - see https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/4.0/#Making ... 0Histogram

Perhaps something for a future version :)

cheers,

Robin
