DSLR functionality

How about Sharpcap being able to be used with the more common DSLR's like Canon and Nikon? I imagine it'd be great to use a DSLR with the live stacking and it'd be very useful for those who use DSLR's for planetary imaging.

I'm not sure how much of a big ask this is, but I just thought I'd mention it.

Canon might just happen at some point as I have Canon DSLRs to work with. I did start playing with Pentax maybe a year or two back, but didn't get very far, and anyway I've sold the Pentax now.

cheers,

That's interesting. I've been toying with getting a 1100d for DSO's. If at some point I could use it in Sharpcap for EAA that'd be awesome too.

I went with a Canon 500d in the end. :)

These were done (not by me sadly) with a Canon 450D (modified) http://www.astronomersdoitinthedark.com/index.php?c=175. Something for us all to aspire to.

Can I ask whether you'd use the camera for

A) High speed lunar/planetary/solar imaging using Live View
B) Longer exposure (1s+) using Live Stacking

if both, please say which is most important for this camera to you.

cheers,

Robin

Hi Robin I'd use it for the long exposure live stacking and lunar high speed using live view. The long exposure live stacking is definitely the priority for me, thanks for looking into it.

I'd be on board with this for the polar alignment functionality.

BackyardEOS is my acquisition application of choice at the moment, but I'm not opposed to using multiple applications for specific purposes.

I'd be interested in longer exposures / stacking with a canon dslr.
I sharpcap for my zwo cameras, but my modded dslr with eos utilities / astrotoaster.
