67% waxing moon, 2x Barlow, various objects

Post by turfpit »

Captured 21st April 2021 around 23:00. 67% waxing moon.
Hardware: Celestron C8, Celestron AVX mount, 2x Barlow, UV/IR-Cut/L filter, Skyris 618m USB3 camera.
Software: Sharpcap 4, Autostakkert!3, GIMP. Stack best 10% of frames.
1 minute capture @ 55fps =3300 frames, SER, MONO8, 640x480, Exposure=8.5ms, Gain=300/1000, 1Gb data files created.
Because of atmospheric turbulence amplified by the 2x Barlow, all SER files were pre-processed in PIPP, making use of the image stabilisation features.

Wow, great set! I like the Rupes Recta.
Btw, did you ever try to stack with PlaneterySystemStacker? If not, you really should try it sometime. It stacks somewhat better the AS!3, more shjarper with default settings. And a nice and clear GUI too. Info and download on https://github.com/Rolf-Hempel/PlanetarySystemStacker

Thanks Menno.

I will have a look at PlanetarySystemStacker next week as I have no skies. I have good data to test particularly where I have had to pre-process with PIPP. I see it is available for Windows, Linux and Mac.

3 hours of lunar capture over 2 nights last week resulted in 170Gb of data - that is what 120fps do to a disk drive. I have just about completed all the processing.
